Renovation update- July ‘09

Hello Friends of the Indian Park Schoolhouse!

Work at the schoolhouse continues despite a few glitches.  We knew we would uncover small glitches as the work went along.  None of them are serious and issues have been addressed by our contractor and the architects.  Some of the “discoveries” required changing plans and extra expenses.  Fortunately, the “association” set money aside for such emergencies.

Work on the roof was postponed when the safety of the building became compromised.  However, materials were purchased well within budget.

Dennis DeVries has finally been able to move the soil behind the building. He did a great job and re-laid the soil like a surgeon.  Our outhouse site is undisturbed! George Melvin lent his backhoe to the efforts.

Elver Robbins went to select stones for the foundation. We needed less than we had thought and so saved funds.

I am told that attendance at the Tuesday meetings are well tended by interested folks, and I am grateful for it.

Genia Oja has been negotiationg meeting and volunteers.  And Val Frislie has been keeping all of us straight on the money matters.  She manages us like a pro.
